2001 World Championships - ESPN interview

ESPN (Melissa Starke) - Elena and Anton, forced to withdraw before last year's Worlds. Elena, does that make you more determined this year?
Elena - Absolutely because, you know, after last year we didn't compete in this and actually we have more time to prepare for this year, to make new programs, make new moves. Of course, we want to prove ourselves like we can skate again and we can compete with everybody and we're back.
ESPN - The only team to beat you this year is the Canadians, Sale and Pelletier. Is it intimidating to skate against them here with the crowds in Canada?
Anton - It's very interesting because the Canadian audience are the best audience in the world and it's very, very interesting and very, very, uh, I don't know, cool because everybody talking about we skating, how they skating, and who's gonna win and it's, I think it makes the competition more interesting and I think pairs skating now one of the most interesting things in figure skating.
ESPN - Well, we look forward to seeing you both in the free skate. Thanks very much.
Anton - Thank you very much.
Elena - Thank you.
