1998 World Championships - CTV interview

CTV: You must be very happy
Elena: I'm really, really very happy!
CTV: You had to fight through this free skate. You had a little
trouble on the side-by-side triples, but you held it off and you held
on to it.
Anton: Yes, I have some problem now with triple toe and training,
too. But, I got it! (laughs)
CTV: It has been an incredible journey for this team in the
last two years. How long did it take you for that chemistry to happen,
for that magic on ice to happen? Was it automatic when you joined
up as a team?
Anton: You know, it's really automatic because we just training
hard and don't think about wins. Just training and just wanna make
some programs, some elements. And we understand the crowd, the people
must have a fun, must have something interesting and they must love
it, really love it.
CTV: Were you hoping for gold here after the Olympics? Was
that in your mind, or just to come and skate well?
Elena: We were skating for gold and we skate for gold.
CTV: With the withdrawal of your teammates, did all of a sudden
the gold medals start to pop up or did you not even worry about them
coming to Minneapolis?
Anton: You know, now about three pairs or four pairs skating
on the same level. And you know, (it's) very important how you skate
in this day and this four minutes. And you know, we don't think and
we don't see my competitors, the other competitors. We just skating
and we just enjoy.
CTV: Well enjoy your World Championship. Congratulations.
Anton: (to camera, waving) Thank you very much. Thanks.
Elena: (the microphone barely picks up her voice, but she says:)
Thank you very much. Thanks.
