1999 Skate Canada - Lifetime profile
The broadcast of the pairs long programs on Lifetime was presented somewhat
as a Elena and Anton soap opera. After mistake-filled short program, were
fighting with each other and Lifetime took advantage of the situation to
create a drama-filled broadcast. Since this broadcast was a lot of fluff
and only included very short sound bites from Anton, the entire transcript
isn't posted. :)
The B&S profile was just a rehash of their move to America and the problems
they were having. This included talk about practicing the quad throw and
this discussion includes the only words either skater when Anton says to
Elena, "I'm lucky because I throw you." Throughout the
remainder of the broadcast, both are shown backstage many times and there
is a report from the practice the morning after the short program (and day
of the long program) when Elena did not show up.
No wonder they call Lifetime "Television for Women" :)
