FOX (Dorothy Hamill): One year ago, Elena Berezhnaya and Oleg Shliakhov
skated to victory here in France. But while she was living and skating with
one man, she was falling in love with another, one that she had already
met.
Anton: Elena and her old partner start St. Petersburg with Tamara
Moskvina, we met better.
FOX: Training in Russia, Elena and Anton grew closer. Too close for
Shliakhov, who insisted he and Elena skate elsewhere. They were training
in Riga, Latvia when, in a tragic accident, Shliakhov's skate pierced Elena's
skull, sending bone fragments into her brain.
Tamara: I think my skaters as my children so this was a matter of
life. And when I saw her motionless and speechless, and this was like disaster.
Anton: Tamara Moskvina say to me about this accident and I don't
know what I must do.
Tamara: When he knew about it, he at once wanted to see her. So he
went there secretly because he was afraid that her former partner would
prevent him from visiting her. This was like love story.
FOX: In classic love story fashion, Anton took Elena from the hospital
and back to St. Petersburg with him. There he stood my her through a miraculous
recovery, ultimately leaving his own partner to skate with his love.
Tamara: I like think of, oh, this is miracle.
Elena: I feel happy and very good.
FOX: Now, life both on and off the ice is filled with simple joy
and for Elena and Anton, it feels like Christmas already.
Anton: It's like Noel.
Elena: Magic story.
Anton: Magic story!
