As Elena and Anton's skating focus shifts exclusively to Russia and Europe, it has become increasingly difficult for this American to keep track of their appearances and maintain a worthy fan web site. So, after nearly 9 years, A Pair of Hearts will no longer be updated. I will keep the site up as long as this domain is active so everyone can read and learn about this wonderful pair and their past accomplishments. Elena and Anton are participating in the ice show, which is broadcasted on the 1st TVchannel on the russian TV (ORT). The main point of this show is the following: different famous russian skaters are skating with different famous russian actors, singers etc. Elena is skating with an actor Alexander Nosik, Anton - with a singer Natasha Ionova. Elena and Alexander are the candidates to leave the show and only the TV audience can save them with the help of sms-voting...But no doubt, they will be saved! And as for Anton and Natasha...Natasha was injuired and now their participation doubtful....

Elena and Anton joined COI Japan Tour. They skated "You are so beautiful" and "Chaplin" 3 showa in Shizuoka (Sept.9-10) and 2 shows in Sendai (Sept.15-16).

When I talked with Elena, she told me that they will not skate SOI. Their mainly job is inside of Russia. Foreign show is "COI in Taiwan" in December (I also comfirmed it from Anton too) and "Art on Ice" in February, Others are in Russia.

B & S were skating at Ice Symphony gala in Tallinn, Estonia (Saku Suurhall). I went there from Finland, as it's only about 70 km by ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn. They skated "You are so beautiful" in white outfits and a new Chaplin program as their second number. Lovely skating. Anton also did a number together with Ilia Averbukh and Alexei Jagudin ( a funny one). Merja

B&S did a commercial.. Very interesting.. There are a few screen grabs, but at the bottom you should be able to download the commerical. We are not sure what the commercial is implying, but it was said that this, I believe to be a pharmaceutical company, produces intimate enhancement medications for men/couples.. (LOL)

On December 9th and 10th, 2005, Elena and Anton skated in Kiev, Ukraine where they took part in Viktor Petrenko's show "Champions on Ice". It was a fantastic show and it was a great pleasure watching Elena and Anton great skating!

Elena and Anton are currently touring Russia in the show Symphony on Ice produced by Irina Lobatcheva and Ilia Averbukh. Today there was a show in my native city Perm, Russia. Their skate was marvellous, fabulous, unbelievable!!! I will post the pictures very soon.

NBC showed a little bit of SOI highlights from years gone by as well as some peeks at this years show. Highlight was an interview with Elena and Anton talking about their "If I Could" program. Elena said she liked the music and Michael Bolton's voice. Anton said that it also went with the theme of "Imagination" because it was asking "If I could...." Elena cut him off and said "If you could, but you never do!" to which Anton replied "Your english is getting better and better and better every year..." And they showed Kalinka again :) Ah, the memories!

World Team Challenge review!! I found this on Laurie S. Yagudin forum.

The whole competition sounded like it was fun. Anton and David had a comic relief moment during pairs warm-up, and another fan stated (from the S&P board) Jamie & Anton were blowing air kisses at each other... These people nuts.... (LOL) Very enjoyable read of the whole competition from Laurie. I expect someone from the S&P board will post a long review soon. I hope someone took pictures. Also, this program should air in on Canadian tv December 11th, and for people in the USA the Oxygen channel December 18th, and on the 25th all day from 8 AM until 12 AM EST, on the 26th 10:00 AM EST. I read the UK should get this program as well. Check your listing to be sure.

Rehearsals for this winter's Stars On Ice tour begin October 28th in Lake Placid, New York according to Salé and Pelletier's official web site. Opening night is November 27th. It's been a long summer without any Elena and Anton updates at A Pair of Hearts, due in part to a busy hurricane season here in southwest Florida that has shifted my priorities away from working on figure skating web sites, so an update is certainly in order! It is being widely reported that Elena and Anton will tour again with Stars On Ice this winter. Fellow 2002 Olympic gold medalist Sarah Hughes will be joining the cast along with regulars Alexei Yagudin, Salé and Pelletier, and others. The tour schedule will be posted here as soon as it is announced.

Anton and Lena were on a Russian tv talk show last week. The young lady, Alenka, didn't catch the program from the beginning, but she typed the text(in Russian) for us to enjoy. B&S were a little serious in the beginning talking about their lives now, but later they were reading from Pushkin. It seems these two were having a fun time reading. Anton was being very silly.. They seem to be enjoying life more and more as professionals, and I think this is just a beginning of what we hope to see more of B&S fun loving side, that I and a some other fans have always known was there. The interview is on a Russian B&S website. Again, she did not catch it all from the beginning, but it's a fun read if you can find a good internet translation site.

Anton and Elena participated in two St. Petersburg, Russia exhibition shows. Evgeni Plushenko was suppose to be the main skater and host of the show, but he fell ill. From a few fan reports, Anton and Lena were the biggest highlights, and they did not disappoint the fans. They skated their Let Me Fall elements to a Russian song, Kalinka in their tradition red outfits and were the only skaters who went back on the ice and did an encore. I don't know what they did for an encore, but the fans were very enthusiastic and appreciative that Anton and Elena were there and did do an encore. One young lady livingin St. Petersburg, was gracious enough to share her photos on the B&S chat forum. She has many others, even screen grabs. One link to off ice pictures will follow.

We just got home from the Fresno SOI. Elena and Anton took my breath away, as the way they glide and flow with such elegance and beauty on the ice. We had on ice seats, to see them so close made my night! Elena & Anton skated their programs PERFECT.

As some of you are no doubt aware the results from the World Team Challenge (in Vancouver) are in: 1st Team Canada, 2nd Team Russia, 3rd Team USA and 4th Team Europe.

Team Europe started strong with a fantastic upbeat performance (Ain't it Funny) by Oksana Baiul, despite a shaky warm-up. She receive all 9.8's for her effort. For Team USA Nicole Bobek's program lacked difficulty and therefore received mediocre marks. Team Canada's Josee Chouinard skated clean and had the audience cheering for her. Team Russia's Maria Butyrskaya skated last and looked beautiful in a black sparky dress. She only had one small error in her program and finished second to Oksana.

For the men's technical program Steven Cousins skated first. He was still recovering from an injury so he had difficulty with his jumps. Todd Eldredge had many strong jumps in his program and many fans, that were sitting in my section, felt that if he had skated later, he might have received higher marks. Kurt Browning skated next (the airline lost his skates and costumes- his wife had to send him his old skates). He skated well despite the distractions. Alexei Yagudin was also recovering from an injury. He completed many triple jumps and had the audience behind him. He had the lead after the technical program.

The pairs were next to compete. I hadn't seen Radka Kovarikova and Rene Novotny skate for a very long time. I think that they have been touring in Europe for a while. They skated to classical music. They had nice clean lines but had trouble with their throw jump. Kyoko Ina and John Zimmerman skated to an Elvis piece and completed all of their elements cleanly. Elena and Anton skated next to Meadowlands in black and red sparkly costumes (very effective colors). They made a small mistake on the side by side jumps, but were otherwise strong on the lifts and footwork. The artistic programs were a little bit less exciting overall.

Oksana Baiul skated first in her latest swan routine. She fought hard, but missed all three of her jumps. She seemed unfazed by her mistakes and continued to smile throughout. Nicole Bobek skated her program for about one minute and then the cd started to skip and she had to start over. There really wasn't much to report about this program - weak jumping, although she did do a lovely spiral. I didn't really like the music for Josee Chouinard's program, although it did get the audience involved. She did skate clean and received the highest artistic scores for the women. Maria Butyrskaya skated last in the group. The techno music that she picked wasn't as well suited to her as the music from the previous program. Her jumps weren's as strong either.

Steven Cousins skated first in his group. The audience was clapping along to his music. He only completed one triple jump, so the judges gave him average marks. Todd Eldrege completed a huge triple axel right in front of where I was sitting. His spins and footwork were first-rate. He received 9.8's and 9.9's. Kurt Browning completed a few triples and skated with personality, but it wasn't enough to beat Todd. Alexei wasn't able to improve on his technical program. Although his footwork and presentation were excellent, he wasn't able to complete the jumps.

During the pairs warm-up Jamie Sale skated with Anton and David Pelletier skated with Elena. These exchanges during the warm-up put to rest any suspicions that there is any animosity between the skaters. This also provided the audience with some comic relief - it was close to eleven o'clock (it started at seven)by this point and we were all getting a bit tired). Radka Kovarikova and Rene Novotny skated to a more upbeat number this time and had many acrobatic lifts. Kyoko Ina and John Zimmerman skated a technically demanding routine and earned mainly 9.8'S. Jamie Sale and David Pelletier brought down the house with their artistic program - all 9.9's and one 10. Many spectators didn't really like the choice of music -despite the scores. Elena and Anton were up last. All of the elements were clean, except for a small slip in the footwork. Their music was well suited to them and they improved on their performance at Ice Wars. Their scores were 9.8's and 9.9's.

Elena and Anton will be competing in the Ice Wars team competition on November 13th in Albany, New York. They will be part of the World Team with Ilia Kulik, Victor Petrenko, and Oksana Baiul (all Olympic Champions!) competing against the North American team which includes Brian Boitano, Kurt Browning, Nicole Bobek, and Sale and Pelletier. A television broadcast has not been announced, but this event has always been aired on CBS.

Most of you have read this already. But in case you haven't, according to this article, Anton and Elena said that they miss the excitment of competitions and is considering to return to ISU eligible competition. Hi, this probably isn't earthshaking news but it was a fantastic experience for my mom and myself. We were in the front row at the Pittsburgh PA SOI show and afterwards when the stars went around and shook hands, Elena came over and shook both mine and my moms. She had the biggest smile on her face and attempted to reach everyone she could. We were so surprised at how tiny and beautiful she is in person. TV doesn't do her coloring justice. It is the first time we have seen her and Anton in person so it was a real thrill.

As you may have noticed (and it's certainly hard not to!), I have not been keeping A Pair of Hearts updated with the latest news about Elena and Anton. So, I am hoping that with the help of the fans who visit this site, it can always be current. If you read any news about B&S online, have a performance review to share, or discover any piece of information that you think other fans will want to know about, please add it to the site using the new Add News form. I have many plans for this site, particularly updating the Photo Album with dozens of new photos from this season, and hope to find the time to work on it very soon!

On January 14th, Elena and Anton skated in the Hallmark Skating Spectacular show in Tuscon, Arizona. Their performance of Méditation was included in the CBS television broadcast of the show on February 9th. Screen grabs from that performance and many others from this season will eventually be added to the web site!

In case you missed the original broadcast on NBC, a second extended Stars On Ice broadcast will be aired on A&E Thursday, March 6th from 9-11 PM. Also, the store on the official Stars On Ice web site is now open. You can buy tour programs, clothing, and even photos signed by Elena and Anton!
